RESIDENTIAL SECURITY SURVEY AVAILABLE FROM APOPKA POLICE DEPARTMENT
Would you like to improve the safety and security of your home?* Then the Apopka Police Department is here to help. The Residential Security Survey is designed to help homeowners identify safety measures they can take to “harden their target” and make their home less attractive to a criminal.
This survey is currently available through the Apopka Police Department Community Policing Division. It takes approximately 1 hour to complete and best of all…it’s FREE to city residents!
Here’s how you can take advantage of this program:
- Contact the Apopka Police Department (407-703-1645) and indicate you would like to schedule a Residential Security Survey.
- An officer will contact you to schedule an appointment to come to your home (someone must be present at the home during the survey)
- The officer will survey the exterior and interior of your home and make recommendations on how you can improve the safety and security of your residence.
- Upon completion of the survey, the officer will review all recommendations with the homeowner and provide you with a CONFIDENTIAL copy of his/her recommendations.
- The homeowner is then responsible for implementing some or all of the recommended improvements at their discretion. Most of the recommended improvements are very inexpensive to implement.
So come on Apopka…let’s all join together to make our homes a safe haven for our children, our families and our community!
It’s time for criminals to hear our message loud and clear:
NOT on my street, NOT is my neighborhood, NOT in Apopka!!
*This service/survey is also available to businesses in the City of Apopka
WATER CONSERVATION INCENTIVE PROGRAM HELPS RESIDENTS SAVE MONEY!
As the demand for Florida’s water continues to grow, the need for conservation has never been greater. That’s why the City of Apopka has taken the initiative to help our citizens in their conservation efforts through the Water Conservation Incentive Program.
This program is designed to provide cash, product or service incentives to existing city water customers (home built prior to May 21, 2008) that are making efforts to upgrade their irrigation systems, thus conserving our precious water resources. Some examples of these incentives are described below:
Rain Sensors
Description: The rain sensor is installed to override the irrigation system when adequate rainfall (1/2 inch or less) has occurred.
Incentive: The City of Apopka purchases bulk amounts of rain sensors for distribution to residential water customers. To receive a sensor AT NO COST, the homeowner must sign an agreement to have the sensor installed within 30 days. Once installed, they must call or email the Public Services Department for an inspection. If after 30 days the sensor is not installed, the resident will be billed for the cost of the sensor, ($20) which will be added to their utility bill.
Rotating Irrigation Nozzle Replacement
Description: Replacement of inefficient heads with water conserving heads that deliver evenly distributed spray, matched precipitation rates, high uniformity, wind resistance and less runoff.
Example: MP Rotators have approximately 12 varieties that range from $8-$14 each. The City will provide a list of local distributors that have the approved products available for sale.
Incentive: Maximum credit of 50% of total cost not to exceed $200.00
Irrigation Inspection/Audit
This is a FREE irrigation system evaluation provided by the City of Apopka that includes:
- Proper irrigation controller settings
- Rain sensor settings
- Checking for any clogged, buried, broken and misdirected sprays
- Providing tips on how to lower water usage
- Irrigation worksheet provided to residents along with water wise materials such as a water wise plan book and irrigation maintenance brochure
